Once upon a time I was in a band called The Typhoons. It was a great period in my life and for my growth as an artist. When this came to an end I launched myself into creating solo material, despite having very little experience with the production side of the process. Like most young artists I simply kept trying new things until I had a huge body of music including collaborations with practically every rapper in perth.
This project was to become a set of three EPs, creating one continuous release, the type of ambitious claim I’m sure every rapper makes at some point in their time creating. Of course, after years of toiling away on these songs I grew to resent each one of them for its imperfections and eventually the masters were lost in a studio move.
Five years on I came to find these the last renders of these songs, frozen in time on the 18th of October, 2011 and to my surprise, find that I didn’t hate them. Furthermore, I had versions without drums so I was able to redo them knowing what I know now, less concerned with their perfection and more with a sense of finality.
So, here in their imperfect glory are the last of my archive. Think of it as a release or as a burial, but please enjoy them, albeit five years too late.
